Dear Students and Alumni,
Applications are now open for the Skopje Academy of Thought 2025–2026, organized by the Balkan Studies Foundation. This international program aims to provide participants with an academic and intellectual perspective on the history, politics, and social dynamics of the Balkans.
The Skopje Academy of Thought is a one-year program consisting of four modules, including seminars, reading groups, study trips, and academic writing sessions.
The first and second modules consist of seminars.
The third module focuses on reading groups, and the fourth module is dedicated to the academic writing process.
Participants who complete the first two modules will take a written exam to qualify for the third module.
In the third module, students will join designated reading groups. During the fourth module, they will complete a five-month article-writing process under the supervision of one of the faculty members from the Academy.
Students who successfully complete all four modules will present their papers at the graduation symposium in Skopje and receive a certificate. They may also gain opportunities to participate as research assistants in the Foundation’s projects or take part in internships.
